You will surely feel a deeper appreciation of the history and culture of this country when you get to explore the wonders of Egypt. You and your loved ones will definitely enjoy visiting this amazing place. Make sure to bring your digital cameras and camcorders to capture the amazing sights that you will see here.

During Ancient Egypt times the people lived and worked each day in the hot sun by the Nile River. Food was simple, clothing was simple, but their advancements in ancient technology were astounding. Ancient Egypt was a unique civilization, and the Egyptians lived differently from other ancient groups of people. They placed a lot of emphasis on their family life. In low class poor families, mothers cared for the children, but in wealthier groups slaves and servants cared for the children.

The women of ancient Egypt were highly respected and treated well in this civilization, but they were supposed to always obey the men in their life. However women were still permitted to own land and take part in important business deals. Girls and boys didn’t wear clothing until they became an “adult” which was usually around the age of 12 or 13. Wearing clothing signified that they were ready to get married. Boys often followed in their father’s footsteps, and girls in their mothers. Girls married at 12 years old as well, but if they were wealthy they could marry at an older age. Everyone worked together to make the entire family successful, which is why family was of such importance to everyone.

Beer and bread were the most popular foods, and meats were consumed on special occasions in poorer families. The rich were able to eat meat on a regular basis though expensive meats were savored on holidays and celebration days only. The life of a rich Egyptian in ancient Egypt involved rich foods, jewelry, clothing, and entertainment. They had large homes and servants, while the poor did all of the work themselves. Ancient Egypt is a fascinating world that continues to be discovered, archeologists are continuously learning about new pieces of their ancient history.

Ancient Egypt – Mummification

Filed under: Ancient Egypt - 10 May 2012  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

Daily life in Ancient Egypt may be really interesting and actually captivating, but the most curious facts about this ancient civilization are linked to the mummification process. During the early years of the development of Ancient Egypt, Egyptians used to bury their dead in the deserts, into small pits. Since the dessert was a place in which high heat and sand were always present, bodies could be dehydrated very simply. This was the first mummification procedure in Ancient Egypt and it was known as natural mummification.

As the Ancient Egypt civilization evolved, the mummification process also knew a new dimension. So, Egyptian began burying their dead in coffins, to make sure that the bodies will be protected against animals. The initial habit of mummification was maintained, meaning that dead Egyptians were still buried into the desert sand. Even though the bodies were protected this way, the mummification process was much slowed, as bodies were no longer exposed to the increased heat or the hot sand of the desert. Still, these were the first attempts to Ancient Egypt mummification. The process of mummification as it is known today was actually developed over many years in Ancient Egypt. Since the days when dead were buried in sand, this civilization developed a new method of preserving bodies as they looked when being alive. This advanced mummification process included embalming bodies and then wrapping them in strips of linen.

Why was mummification so important in Ancient Egypt? Well, Egyptians used to believe that when someone died, the soul left the body. However, after the burying of the dead, the soul was to return to the body, which had to look as if it were alive, for the soul to be able to recognize it. The soul and the body will live forever from that moment on, people in Ancient Egypt believed. All Egyptians believed in afterlife. Still, Ancient Egypt mummification was not a simple process. Most likely it lasted around 70 days for the body to be prepared for preservation. During this period of time the soul was to make a journey in another world. Ancient Egypt mummification meant the purifying of the body including steps such as the removal of organs, except for the heart, and the coverage of the whole body with various substances.

I Love The Documentaries About Ancient Egypt

Filed under: Ancient Egypt - 09 Apr 2012  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

The ancient Egypt is a true mistery and although bits and pieces about the life back then are known, there is still a lot to discover. The ancient Egypt is fascinating and many people travel to the north-east of Africa only with the hope to decipher the mysteries related to that amazing civilization. The ancient Egypt was located in the area where the modern Egypt is located in our time. This civilization reached its peak point in 3150 BC when the first pharaoh of the ancient Egypt unified the Upper and the Lower Egypt. Today, the most famous symbols that remained from the ancient Egyptians are the Great Sphinx and the pyramids of Giza. What makes the ancient Egypt so fascinating is mainly the construction techniques that are still a secret that historians could not find out.

I am a history passionate and the ancient Egypt is one of my favorite topics. This is why I do not miss not even one documentary about the ancient Egypt and I read a lot of books related to it. What I most love about the ancient Egypt is the fact that the people had so interesting beliefs and they easily related to gods. For them, the pharaohs were extremely important and their life was guided by religion, to which they dedicated a lot of monuments and constructions. Their belief in after-life was the one that made them use the mummification technique. Many cultures used it, but this ritual is especially associated with the ancient Egypt.

The shows about ancient Egypt are wonderful and open for me a whole new world of information. I love the shows more than the books, because through them I also have the chance to see beautiful images of today’s Egypt and all kind of renderings on how life in the ancient Egypt must have been. The documentaries depicting the life in the ancient Egypt and the customs of the people that used to live there are incredible and I love to see them. Of course, I hope that one day I will be able to see for myself some of the things that ancient Egyptians left behind.
